The Urban Justice Center (UJC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating on behalf of New York City’s most vulnerable citizens. The Domestic Violence Project (DVP) at the Urban Justice Center is seeking to hire a legal advocate to join our immigration practice. DVP’s mission is to help victims of domestic violence and their children live free of violence and abuse. We consider domestic violence in any type of relationship, regardless of gender or sexual identity, to be a human rights violation. Our work focuses on providing legal and social work services to promote justice and vigorously defend and protect victims’ human rights. To accomplish this, our attorneys, social workers, and advocates provide immigration legal services, legal representation in New York City Family Courts, Integrated Domestic Violence Courts, and Immigration Court, mental health services, advocacy, case management, and ongoing domestic violence education and outreach activities throughout the five boroughs of New York City.

DVP’s immigration legal team works with survivors of domestic violence to provide legal representation and advocacy in immigration matters including VAWA self-petitions, U and T visas, Battered Spouse Waivers, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and other forms of immigration relief. The legal advocate will provide essential support to our clients as we help them obtain or maintain lawful immigration status in the United States. We seek a candidate who is passionate about fighting for justice for immigrants and survivors of domestic violence.

DVP seeks a full-time advocate to work within a legal-psychosocial framework with survivors of intimate partner violence.

The Urban Justice Center Domestic Violence Project (DVP) is seeking an immigration attorney to work within a legal-psychosocial framework with survivors of domestic violence to provide legal representation and advocacy on immigration matters including U and T visas, SIJS, adjustment of status, VAWA Self-Petitions, Battered Spouse Waivers, naturalization, and removal defense. The ideal candidate will be community-oriented with a proven ability to work with teammates and clients of diverse backgrounds.

This internship placement may be for any of the 5 boroughs.

The Domestic Violence Project at the Urban Justice Center seeks a highly motivated individual to fill DVP's Hotline Volunteer. The applicant should demonstrate a commitment and interest in non-profit work and helpings survivors of domestic violence receive access and guidance towards beneficial legal and clinical services.
