Volunteer
Giving a little bit of time makes an impact in a big way.
Current volunteer opportunities:
Translation
Working with a survivor in their own language makes a huge difference in making our services equitably accessible. It ensures understanding and provides an atmosphere of comfort and safety. We seek bi-lingual speakers to help with:
- Live translations for client meetings (in-person or over the phone)
- Written translations for documents and resources
Our top language needs are Arabic, French, Haitian Creole, Russian, Spanish, and Uzbek, but all bi-lingual speakers are need and encouraged to apply.
Marketing
Calling all strong communicators and content creators! Help DVP share our story to a broader audience and expand our organization’s reach through specialized volunteer roles:
- Graphic design
- Professional videography or photography
- Social media strategy
- PR and press outreach
- Content and SEO writing
Community Outreach
DVP’s reach across all five boroughs means both meeting survivors where they are in their community to access services. Volunteers make a real impact whether you are someone who loves talking to others by tabling at a local event, or if you prefer behind-the-scenes work doing research to keep our resource lists up to date – perfect if you are looking for a flexible volunteer schedule.
Warmline
DVP’s warmline is often how our clients find us, made up of a voicemail and email inbox where survivors inquire about services. Because we maintain a promise to our community to respond to all messages within 2 business days, warmline volunteers play an important role in ensuring all survivors feel seen and heard. Volunteers undergo a formal training session with DVP staff and commit to a weekly shift (for example, 2 hours every Tuesday), all done remotely.
